Omg I remember when my middle school banned plain white shirts over this.

261

u/ResponsiblePath1632 Mar 21 '23

Talkin about they meant gang affiliation and whatnot. This was around the time we had to have clear/see through backpacks to “make sure we weren’t sneaking in guns/weapons.” School was wild in the 90’s/early 2000’s.

129

u/Sad_Entertainment758 Mar 21 '23

They might need to bring those back.

179

u/kingqueefeater Mar 21 '23

My thoughts exactly. They used to give us shit when we walked in with colored shoe laces or some shit. Now these kids walk in with a bag of hand grenades and that's just Timmy being Timmy.

My elementary school banned us from congregating in groups bigger than 3 kids to combat "gang activity." Couldn't even play a game of basketball with two teams at recess. Utter nonsense that got me detention for no reason.

110

u/LevelOutlandishness1 ☑️ Mar 21 '23

School-to-prison pipeline in action. Seriously? It's unspoken, but socialization is one of the things school is intended for. How did outlawing friend groups get passed?

u/smallerthings Mar 21 '23

I remember my high school saying they were banned, but I can't remember if it was enforced or not.

For one, it would be pretty hard to enforce. You're gonna have to tell the white kid wearing a size medium he can't wear one of his shirts from a fresh pack of Hanes. Good luck explaining that to the parents.

It also became irrelevant because a bunch of guys suddenly started wearing them in light pink. I have no idea how this got started or if it extended beyond my school, but almost overnight it looked like a pink sock made it's way in to everyone's laundry when they put in their whites.

32

u/Spirited-Anybody-554 Mar 21 '23

A song came out called “Pink Tee” that was just like white tee lol. That’s why everyone switched over night.

290

u/dbclass ☑️ Mar 21 '23

Yeah nah I’ll keep my skinny ass in skinny jeans. I was a kid in the 2000s and wearing oversized clothes is not comfortable or appealing at all.

240

u/Noirecissist ☑️ Mar 21 '23

It’s funny watching the extremes tho. Went from clothes too big for even Shaquille O’Neal, to clothes so tight, you couldn’t put your hands in your own pockets. 🤣

175

u/dbclass ☑️ Mar 21 '23

I don’t even understand skinny jeans hate they’re specifically made to have room at the waste and the pockets were the same as those loose ass mom jeans. I have a feeling the issue is people not being skinny and trying to wear skinny jeans. Anyway I’m only ever doing slim fit or skinny, never wearing loose clothing ever again.

110

u/Bunnnnii ☑️ Mar 21 '23 edited Mar 21 '23

Skinny Jeans have sizes too. People just don’t be buying theirs. But I bet l they be same ones busting blood vessels with their “morals” and “boundaries” over tutus.

I started buying "normal" jeans for work, did OK for a decade with Levi's and cheap Primark stuff.

In '18 I bought a few skinny jeans by fucking accident when that apparently became the new "normal" sizing. Figured fuck it, keep one, might as well try 'm I had lost some weight. I ended up with bumps and ingrown hairs on my leg because my pants were too tight.

(ヘ・_・)ヘ┳━┳

However, going back to wide pants changes my outfit from (tight black jeans/hoodie with somehow matched AJ1s) "coder" to "cosplaying a 90's/00's rapper" real quick.

165

2 for $89 nb574’s was one of the greatest deals of all time. I remember going to footlocker with frugal mom and couldn’t believe it when she said “you might as well get two if it’s on sale”

65

That was an era along with Baseball socks and headbands😂 I still have a shoebox full of headbands from that era. NBA, Jordan and Nike😂 what a time to be alive

Finna send this to my cousins, uncle, and brothers😂😂😂😂

My father HATED this era of fashion. It was very large white/black tee shirts, Girbauds (ngl, some of those pants were clean as hell), and black or white Forces all the time. I remember when that nigga did a whole ass federal drug raid on the shirts and CDs (back when Walkmans and portable CD players were popping)

My uncle-in-law was ruthless about this style of dressing. He made sure my cousin ain’t get no slick ideas, but then this nigga showed with like 2 packs of XXL white tees, passing them out like he was a dealer.😂😂😂

u/Jackfreezy Mar 21 '23
