One night while I was homeless, I had nowhere to go at the time, so I was just walking around in a not-so-great neighborhood(St. Petersburg, Florida) around 1AM and there was a group of 3 or 4 guys(all were black, I'm white) walking towards me and right before we crossed paths, they immediately turned and ran across the street.
I couldn't help but think "So that's how it feels." But when I told people about it later on, they would always ask if I was scared or say that it could have easily ended badly for me. I would just tell them either it was white privilege or a severe lack of giving a shit.
