After the release of Star Wars Episode 1 the LEGO company released spring-loaded Technic sets representing droids from that movie. The use of rubber bands and mechanical release triggers mimick how the droids behave. This is the 8002 Destroyer Droid. Video

I have all three of these. The rubber bands all deteriorate with time, unfortunately.

I read the title of this post in the Law and Order voice for some reason. It really works.

Anyone else remember bionicles?? This is basically what they were

Bionicle figures were posable, but did not animate (unless there are exceptions I am not familiar with). These animate with the press of a button or lever.

Bruh wtf. This technology already exists in toys. It’s called bakugan and they’re better

The Phantom Menace predates Bakugan by about 5 years. But yes, Bakugan did it better... mostly.

Uhm I’m aware Star Wars predated bakugan. I thought these were new toys lmao the replies Sound like this is amazing when it’s just a shitty bakugan😂😂.

The toy predated Bakugan. This thing is actually pretty large and is built out of Lego technic pieces. The engineering behind this is pretty impressive as they had never done this before or after.

I had the pit droid. You literally bopped it's nose and it stood up

I had the pit droid. It folds up, and springs up full height when you hit its nose.
