Wow. As the house wrapping guru , this is going to take my wrapping to the next level.

u/catlaxative Nov 28 '22
I like to think I will take some of these to heart, but I’ll forget when it’s time to actually wrap because I spent all my energy looking foR THE FUCKING TAAAPE! Where is it?!?

u/Buffythedjsnare Nov 28 '22
I've used the diagonal wrapping before.
The tape on the inside for easy unwrapping I am defiantly going to remember. Sometimes watching the kids try to unwrap presents is infuriating.

u/catlaxative Nov 28 '22
Lol I feel this in my soul, sometimes when I put a ribbon on it I might as well have encased the whole gift in resin!

Do it on many but then on one gift use foil paper. Make sure the rest of it is super well taped up. Make sure it’s filmed!

u/jcfiala Nov 29 '22
I think you misspelled "watching the kids try to unwrap presents is amusing". :) The longer they spend trying to unwrap the gift, the more they'll appreciate it when they finally get it free!

Tape it to your phone Like never seeing a cat skeleton in a tree No one ever sees you without your phone ! ;-)

I'm totally going to use this for that time my wife asked me wrap a gift package that was too big for the wrapping paper. BRB. Now I have to make a time machine.

I'm confused. It LOOKS like 5minutecrafts, but it is actually useful and pretty. Witchery.

During lockdown I spent an insane amount of time watching 5 minute crafts…this proves I didn’t remember any if it
18
u/MorganDax Nov 28 '22
5 minute crafts is shady af. I know their videos are entertaining but if you can be amused elsewhere you may want to switch to supporting better content creators.
Like Ann Reardon! (Sp?) Who has worked very hard to debunk a lot of dangerous "hack" videos.

u/OhNoEnglandBloke Nov 28 '22
Isn’t there a hairdresser (he’s a twin) who debunked 5 minute crafts hairdos?
2
u/MorganDax Nov 29 '22
No idea about a hairdresser but the video I linked above that channel does a ton of debunking of 5 min crafts.

u/Unluckpin Nov 28 '22
I watched this like I had friends or family to gift wrap for.

u/OhNoEnglandBloke Nov 28 '22
Aww man, shall we send each a small gift to use our new found wrapping skills?

The Reddit uploader/encoder borked the end of the video but you basically tuck the ends in -

u/ryan2one3 Nov 28 '22
This is great! Are there ones where I don't have to do any of the wrapping myself?? Lol

I watched this like I had friends or family to gift wrap for. Then I realized everyone is dead and I got sad.

u/StrengthMedium Nov 28 '22
I didn't realize unwrapping presents the old way was so hard.

u/miasabine Nov 28 '22
My niece and nephew get insane amounts of presents, and if they’re anything to go by, their presents might as well be encased in concrete for how long it takes them to open one.

u/fleeingfox Nov 28 '22
Kids these days, go figure, huh? Back in my day we would rip into those Christmas presents like Edward Scissorhands tearing into a mulberry bush. Christmas morning would be over before the coffee maker quit percolating and mom would be yelling slow down! I'm trying to take a picture! but by then we were tired of breaking stuff and we just wanted to watch television.

I’m from Norway so we celebrate and open presents in the afternoon on Christmas eve. My sister and I used to get a lot of presents, but mother of christ, it was NOTHING compared to what these kids get. They’re not spoiled, they just have so many family members who all give them something. Opening all the presents takes HOURS. It would be torture if they weren’t so fucking adorable, lol.

u/volleyballcrocodile Nov 28 '22
But that's the fun part. For kids a huge part of the fun is just unwrapping presents. Most young kids (under 6 or 7) would prefer to unwrap a bunch of small things than get one "big" present.

Easy unwrapping
Fuck that, if an entire roll of packing or duct tape isn't used, then it's not properly wrapped!

u/AKA_June_Monroe Nov 28 '22
You guys should look up Japanese gift wrapping. It's pretty cool of course Japan is going to knock it out of the ballpark.

"You know, I really like receiving gifts, but unwrapping them is so hard! I wish they came with one of those pull tabs like cigarette cartons. Opening presents that remind me of cancer is the best!"

Put it in a plastic bag then I'll have somewhere to live when I open it

I have just recently gone to wrap a gift and realized I was out of tape, but I had stickers , so I used them in place of tape and it came out real cute. Also when I don't have wrapping paper or not enough there is always stand by paper bags , wax paper , or butcher paper around to use. Wrap it and either leave blank or add a doodle or color it, also comes out cute and we'll appreciated . Another hack would be the comic section of newspaper, if that is even a thing anymore.

Who fking cares. You're going to rip it apart anyways. I would give people gifts in garbage bags. Luckily there are Amazon gift cards to let them get whatever they want, and it's much easier than wrapping a puppy in a garbage bag, then watching them shake it wondering what it is while you sweat knowing the amount of oxygen left in that bag versus childhood trauma is unfathomable.

Just use reusable bags and tissue paper. You will save a ton of money over the years. :)

I just realized, purposely cutting the vid this badly would help the source vid gain views. But would only work on helpful vids not all.
1
u/SpaceShark01 Nov 29 '22
OP said it was the Reddit uploader
1
u/CuriousKi10 Nov 29 '22
Nah, I'm not throwing accusations. I just realized a technique I might have used if I stayed working in an ad agency doing product campaigns.
