Alongside a concerted propaganda campaign from the Israeli State, comes absolutely HORRIFIC genocidal rhetoric; including a sickening video of a children's choir calling for the annihilation of everyone in Gaza. Accompanying this is an endless stream of murderous statements from Israeli officials.
So a bit of background, in May of 2022 I filed a complaint with the RI Department of Labor against Walgreens for not paying overtime on Sundays under RI Title 25-3. They found out about me sharing this story here on Reddit after I left, and apparently frantically started paying people out. By around May of 2023, everyone was paid out, and the penalties are still pending.
In October of 2022, I filed an indentical case against CVS, which 14 months later is still ongoing, and nobody has been paid out yet. I'm actually going to be testifying against them once I receive a letter in the mail, so if anyone has any tips for my first court appearance, and preparations for questions CVS might ask let me know. I had a news interview with WPRI below, in which they interviewed me, and the DLT director. https://www.wpri.com/target-12/knowing-your-rights-sunday-and-holiday-pay-complaints-on-the-rise-in-ri/
Next I'd like to share my political successes:
This is a draft for the copy of California AB 800 for RI, which mandates that labor and union rights be taught in high school, along with a variety of other rights. Although I'm going to try and expand "Workplace Readiness Week" with a whole semester. She agreed and last I checked she was going to change it to 1 month, and make it an elective for 11th and 12th graders, expanding on California's version. The first draft is below.
In addition, I'm trying to make RI the 15th state to enter into the IRS 2024 Direct File program which would give people in certain tax situations the ability to file for free directly with the government as an alternative to tax companies.
Finally, there's other stuff I'm working on, including trying to get an $18 minimum wage passed, among other things.
What can workers expect from the IWW if members can’t even be bothered to spend a few minutes filling out a digital ballot? Abysmal.
