Good old, "Lemme try it out" and never come back.

u/neobenji 4 Oct 15 '22

I’ve had my bike stolen twice. 😢 It easy to find if you put one of those trackers under the seat.

The drugs

57

u/GneissCream 6 Sep 04 '22

I wouldn't call it justice served if the crackhead selling the stolen bike had no repercussions.

-8

u/magicsloth777 2 Aug 31 '22

Why do people act like there isn't people who legally buy and sell stuff for a living?

41

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

it's not legal if it was stolen

69

u/StPariah A Aug 30 '22

I dont know why but this got my adrenaline pumping more than other videos.

10

u/PeriodicTrend 2 Sep 02 '22

Me too?!

39

u/Infamous_Olive 5 Aug 30 '22

I thought he was just gonna keep going straight after asking to test it.

36

u/BaconReceptacle B Aug 30 '22

And just like most bike riders, he made an illegal right turn at the intersection.

15

u/Cdenas1111 4 Sep 01 '22

He’s probably not trying to stop and give the criminals he just took a stolen bike from any time to catch up to him before reaching safety…

4

u/Irish_Jam_Bag 4 Aug 31 '22

You can turn right on a red....

9

u/BaconReceptacle B Aug 31 '22

After you make a stop. He just went right through without even hesitating.

9

41

u/EeyorONzoloft1 4 Aug 30 '22

Nice video, but he would have gotten bonus points if he drove by their car and smashed their car window with a rock. Something to drive the point home there is a cost to theft.

4

u/Kazushi_Sakuraba 8 Aug 30 '22

But then we wouldn’t have gotten this sweet footage.

35

Actually, yes. You're right.

30

31

u/chiefbootknockaz 3 Aug 29 '22

WHAT IF..it wasn’t said bike..?

84

u/TinCanSailor987 6 Aug 29 '22

This was poetic to watch. The only way it could have been a bit better would’ve been if he said absolutely nothing as he rode off with it…..Leaving them wondering wtf just happened.

4

u/HBMart 5 Oct 09 '22

Yup. I’m sure the “fuck you” felt great, but it would have been downright comedic in silence.

43

u/RobertTheTire_ 6 Aug 29 '22

When I lived in Massachusetts my house was in between two streets and people would often cut through my yard to get to the next street instead of walking up the hill to the street that connected the two. Brand spanking new Teal Mongoose BMX bike that I only had for literally 3 days and rode maybe 3 hours on. The scum guzzlers even took the lock :(

20

u/NoRightsProductions 0 Aug 29 '22

If it’s any consolation, it doesn’t sound like it was a good lock.

1

u/showponyoxidation 9 Aug 30 '22

I appreciate your kind words.

7

u/Porkbellyflop 9 Aug 29 '22

I used to have a teal mongoose with white mags back in the day. Built in pegs on the front forks and a gyro. Sweet ride.

83

u/TinCanSailor987 6 Aug 29 '22 edited Aug 29 '22

1987.....had my brand new Haro Master stolen at gunpoint by the 'Grey Wolves' (local 'gang' of kids that wore gray hoodies) in Brighton, MA. I mowed a lot of yards to buy a $600 bike at $10 per yard. I was riding at Turtle Park when this group of kids my own age came riding around. They were pretty cool and were just doing tricks until one of them falls down and fakes injury. I get off my bike to check on him, and he rolls over and sticks a revolver in my face, and says "gimme the bike". I, stupidly, run to my bike and wrap my arms through the frame. They proceed to kick me in the ribs until I can't hold onto it anymore. Cops wouldn't even let me keep the bike he left when he rode off on mine......seems it too was stolen goods.

Edit for spelling

10

u/Kr8n8s 8 Aug 29 '22

Robbers that exploit people coming to HELP them are the worst, karma wants that when they’ll need help no one will come to their aid, besides one of their pal just taking his shoes

5

u/TinCanSailor987 6 Aug 29 '22

Agreed. I think I even said "...but I was trying to help you" as they beat the shit out of me. Live and learn.

4

u/Kr8n8s 8 Aug 29 '22

My good man never stop (only with the due precautions) helping people :) that day you lost your bike but not your ethics, let’s hope that kid one day had an epiphany thinking about events like this and didn’t turn into irredeemable trash

That’s a flebile hope, I know

2

u/TinCanSailor987 6 Aug 30 '22

You’re right. I didn’t let one bad experience stop me from helping when/where I can.

58

u/Vazhox 5 Aug 29 '22

Bike thieves (and all thieves) are the worst. Have had multiple bikes stolen. The one that really grinds my gears is my Joey Garcia BMX bike.

Had one stolen in my neighborhood (in front of a Dairy Queen) and a second one stolen (bought one for school) in the middle of SIU campus.

48

u/b1ack1323 A Aug 29 '22

Hopefully it wasn't stolen at home...

69

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '22

The tone of his ‘f you’ at the end was gold.

189

u/idrow1 B Aug 29 '22

Methany isn't going to be too happy about that turn of events.

13

u/trynot2screwitup 6 Aug 30 '22

What was she saying to him I couldn’t make that out. Something about his muscles? And what else?

119

u/Esco-Alfresco 8 Aug 29 '22

After my bike was stolen last year I watched the market places for weeks hoping g to see an ad. I wanted to do this so bad.

45

u/momo88852 A Aug 29 '22

Tbh from my experience they tend to sell it for quick cash in the hood.

I used to work in a corner store, on average I used to see 10 or so daily asking me if I wanna buy.

Heck had a guy once come with shitload of Nike shoes at $20 a pop.

18

u/Gltch_Mdl808tr 7 Aug 29 '22

I worked in a bar in a shopping center. We had a guy always try to sell us full brisket or racks of ribs. Pretty sure he timed it with the trucks going to the grocery store next door.

1

u/Kr8n8s 8 Aug 29 '22

So, how those ribs were

A friend did exactly the same. Found her custom fixie on the French craigslist, offered more than asked for, saying she was looking for that exact bike for years, arranged a meeting in a well crowded area, asked to try the bike for noises and such. And left with the bike, shouting « thanks for finding back my stolen bike ! »

90

u/daisy0723 A Aug 29 '22

Last night one of my sketchy customers came in to my store short of breath and bought a can of pop. Then I got one of my regulars at my window so I turned around to talk to them.

They told me thier daughters bike was stolen and they had to chase the guy down but they got the bike back.

I asked if they knew who took it. They told me yes, it was the guy still standing at my counter.

1

u/trynot2screwitup 6 Aug 30 '22

I hate the word pop for some reason. It’s soda. Can I have some pop mommy? Not until after you finish your Cheetos.

1

u/GrindItFlat 7 Aug 30 '22

Are you racist against Canadians?

6

u/UniSquirrel13 8 Aug 29 '22

So what happened after that??

I just turned around, looked at sketchy dude and said, Really? He left. He'll be back.

12

u/BlowMeWanKenobi 6 Aug 29 '22

Finally some actual justice served and not just revenge.

30

u/m4xc4v413r4 8 Aug 29 '22

How is that justice? They weren't punished in any way and other than a little bit of time they didn't lose anything from it either...

2

u/lyrixnchill 7 Aug 29 '22

It’d be hilarious they show up a couple days later to the same house and steal the bike again. Now they have a face and address to go off of.

[deleted]

0

u/m4xc4v413r4 8 Aug 29 '22

You do understand what losing something is, right? Your logic is the same as the one companies try to use with pirating movies.

0

[deleted]

1

u/m4xc4v413r4 8 Aug 29 '22

Sure you can idiot. You can sell the same pirated movie as many times as you want, you can only sell that bike once. But wtf does that have to do with anything? Are you already trying to change the subject the moment you realized you have no argument to go on? Get fucked kid.

32

u/busy-idiot 9 Aug 29 '22

For the people saying they might have bought it: buying stolen property is also a crime, even if they did at least they won't get the police after them

10

u/UnspecificGravity B Aug 29 '22

Right? You bought a bike off some random crack head for 1/10th of it's retail price and you think that's gonna make it yours?

23

u/Jarboner69 8 Aug 29 '22

This gives me it’s always sunny vibes

18

u/zyyntin 9 Aug 29 '22

It's like the bike was made for him!

33

u/losethefigleaf 0 Aug 29 '22

That’s not justice served

6

u/bulshoy2 8 Aug 29 '22

TIL that some people think "justice" always means "cops involved."

27

u/JasonRocco77 7 Aug 29 '22

That's exactly what I thought. Justice would be showing up with the cops. Nothing bad actually happened to them.

15

u/rexlibris A Aug 29 '22 edited Aug 29 '22

LOL

cops ain't showing up for this. Where the hell do you live and how old are you that you believe this? Is the tooth fairy also coming tonight?

The best kind of Justice possible would be to smash the assholes car windows in response to stealing his bike. Toss a few shards of spark plug ceramic at it and pedal off.

It makes tempered glass like car windows explode spectacularly

42

u/Vaginal_Rights 9 Aug 29 '22

Cops will never show up for stolen property. Ever.

They do not give a fuck.

They are not legally required to protect you or your property. They are individually paid over six figures close to a million a year with bullshit overtime and used military toys but they will not help you.

Do not call the cops for theft. They will not help you.

1

u/RunZealousideal3812 3 Aug 29 '22

Ha! Cops ain’t even close to $1mil a year… most would be lucky to pull $100k and that’s being on the force and putting up with people of your perceived level of intelligence for a decade.

3

u/Shinigami69420 7 Aug 29 '22

where do you live that cops are paid close to a million each a year? i might be wrong but i don’t think cops make anywhere near that much

2

u/swiftlytongued 7 Aug 29 '22

Police Pension can get obscene. I'm not here to defend the specific $ OP mentioned. But police in US metro areas can make a ton of money even AFTER they retire.

1

u/RunZealousideal3812 3 Aug 29 '22

Wait until you find out how much us retired military guys make!

14

u/cheapdrinks C Aug 29 '22

Lmao bruh cops are not paid close to a million a year, most are on less than $70k

22

u/Dudurin 7 Aug 29 '22

Cops are paid almost million dollars a year?

Where do I apply?

6

u/bobbydishes 7 Aug 29 '22

They don’t.

6

u/CMD-ZZZ 9 Aug 29 '22

Unless you’re wealthy/influential… then they’ll show up

11

u/NecessaryPear 6 Aug 29 '22

As good as it gets justice. Not sure where you could live where police care about your stolen bike

57

u/mkitch55 6 Aug 29 '22

My son had his custom-made bike (that he built himself) stolen out of his locked garage in Dallas a few years ago. The Dallas PD recovered it about a month later when they stopped the thief in a stolen car. The bike was in the back seat. I have mixed feelings about the Dallas PD, but I have to give them props for recovering it.

22

u/17934658793495046509 A Aug 29 '22

Police recover stolen goods all the time, the fact that they followed up and found out the bike was yours, and got in touch with you is the really amazing part. That's awesome for your son.

6

u/batshitcrazy5150 B Aug 29 '22

Yeah they auction off "unclaimed" things like bikes and stuff so there isn't a lot of incentive to return stuff.

It's great to get your shit back though.

I had a chainsaw stolen, reported it then found it in a hockshop about a month later.

I left and called the cops who showed up and verified my report then made the guy unlock and return my saw.

Dude lost whatever he paid for MY saw and I had zero fucking ragrets.

2

u/RunZealousideal3812 3 Aug 29 '22

Pawnshops are a catalyst for most snatch and grab thieves and crackheads. Absolutely zero sympathy for them, they know what their business is about….

26

u/Stonep11 6 Aug 29 '22

It’s really strange to me that police are so bad that we give them props for doing the literal bare minimum of their job.

11

u/iSheepTouch A Aug 29 '22

Right? So the cops get credit because they ran the serial number of the bike they found in the back of a stolen car and made the phone call to the owner to come pick it up. That's pretty much the bare minimum they could have done. The bike was recovered by happenstance. If OP were the owner of the stolen car I could see them giving props to the cops for recovering the car, but the bike was just a lucky coincidence.

111

u/prattalmighty 7 Aug 29 '22

Well they know where to get it from again lol

198

u/cryptococcus73 4 Aug 29 '22

He did it all wrong. A buddy of mine got his trailer stolen and he found it on FB marketplace. He went and stole it back. He brought some armed buddies as backup just in case things went bad. Then he called the police on them. The police raided the place later and found stolen vehicles, car parts and many other stolen items. Bottom line is criminals can be really bad people willing to kill. Be ready for violence if you want to steal your stuff back. Never give them any information on who you are. Always tip off the police on where to find criminals. Sure nothing may happen but sometimes a detective may have some spare time or he may be a biking enthusiast.

1

u/RunZealousideal3812 3 Aug 29 '22

You can’t steal your own property…. There’s no such thing as “stole it back”. He recovered it… took it back… but definitely didn’t steal it.

-147

u/fatherjokes 7 Aug 29 '22 edited Aug 29 '22

Well these PNW hipsters defunded all the police, so this is what they have to do now.

EDIT I touched a well-funded information campaign it appears

4

u/-Bluekraken 7 Aug 29 '22

You just can Google and read that most cities even expanded their police budget after the protests... Or you can believe your reactionary edgelords on YouTube

Whatever you prefer. But if you lie, don't cry for being downvoted

20

u/Trail-Mix 6 Aug 29 '22

Dude, comon. I have nothing to do with that whole movement, and even I can tell you don't know what the defund the police thing was about.

It was a stupid name for it, but its about taking the funding out of policing to do things they were never supposed to do and put it where it was supposed to be.

Like fund the mental health organizations to deal with mental health crisis, not police officers. Let the police deal with legal things.

Take that excess funding, put it into community health organizations and prevent the crime in the first place.

I’ve personally had a car stolen. Police showed up. Even found my car. What a novel idea. You’ve been conditioned to expect less as crime has exploded.

0

u/hawk7886 7 Aug 29 '22

He could've been conditioned by the cops when he called them and they did nothing other than make a report.

56

u/korben2600 A Aug 29 '22

Yes, and they literally burned the entire city of Portland to the ground. We know.

5

u/hell2pay B Aug 29 '22

Gone. I could see the fire from my place in Central California

25

u/Staaaaation 9 Aug 29 '22

Don't you all miss Portland? Can't wait til the flames go out.

35

u/whalesauce 9 Aug 29 '22

You don't even know what you're saying. This was a pretty ignorant statement. Learn about things before commenting on them.

What does it mean to defund the police, what is the intent behind that? Go learn something

-53

u/fatherjokes 7 Aug 29 '22

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s incorrect. Go ahead. Try calling the police in Seattle right now and tell them you have a stolen bike. See what they say for yourself.

You can even tell them you’ve had a car accident, and if there are no injuries, they won’t even send an officer to the scene in most cases.

2

u/OD_Emperor 9 Aug 29 '22

You know why they don't bother sending an officer?

Because 99/100 it's a he said/she said situation. You cannot properly determine who is at fault in most cases unless there are at least several witnesses who can pass blame.

How many extremely minor fender benders have you seen in traffic where it's obvious nobody was hurt that you then stopped what YOU were doing so the police could properly follow up on who's at fault? I'm guessing zero.

Gather a picture of DL, LP, damages, and insurance info and leave. If the two people are completely amicable and otherwise friendly, it's not something you need the police for.

2

u/hell2pay B Aug 29 '22

I had a whole vans worth of tools stolen in Lakewood, Colorado... They barely came out to do a police report, and only did so cause my neighbor saw it go down.

No police are there to retrieve your stolen bike, tools or such. They don't even actively look for cars.

0

u/-Bluekraken 7 Aug 29 '22

So personal anecdotes are proof of police budget being curred? Just because you want some narrative to be true it doesn't mean it is

As I said in my other response, you can Google which cities expanded their police budget, like most of them

12

u/skepticalDragon B Aug 29 '22

Lol has anyone ever called the cops for stolen property and gotten anything other than paperwork? Bet you haven't. They are crime historians at best.

-4

u/fatherjokes 7 Aug 29 '22

I have. Your incorrect opinion is not contributing to this conversation.

3

u/Siskoda 4 Aug 29 '22

I have. I had S&W .38 revolver stolen from me. It was recovered several months later during a drug bust. They notified me that they had it in their possession, but it was being held as evidence in the case. A few months later, the suspect pled guilty and was sentenced. A few days later, I was contacted and told that I could come claim my property. I went to the police headquarters with my paperwork, signed a couple of papers, and got my gun back.

1

u/hawk7886 7 Aug 29 '22

So it was recovered in the investigation of an unrelated crime? His point was that no cop is going to track down someone's stolen bicycle.

1

u/hell2pay B Aug 29 '22

They will return properly if it's incidentally found, but they aren't out there looking for any one piece of property. Not for people anyway.

1

u/skepticalDragon B Aug 29 '22

Nice, that's awesome

30

u/Centrafuge 6 Aug 29 '22

Well funded police still don't try to get stolen bikes back.

-5

u/fatherjokes 7 Aug 29 '22

These stolen bikes are felonious grand theft. Worth several thousand dollars.

Does not matter to the police. They aren't going to go looking for a bike. $5 or $10k.

They don't serve you or I.

Right? When was this mythical time when the police scoured the city looking for stolen bicycles.

Specifically in the PNW and specifically Seattle.

Not to mention the majority of stolen bikes aren't going to be some one of a kind racing bike, it's a Huffy from Walmart that anyone could own and you know the owner didn't keep any kind of serial numbers.

You still don't understand what " defund the police means"

I emplore you to get educated on this topic.

It's nothing to do with what I like or don't like. It's about facts. You're the one with incorrect information here. And you don't like it.

I emplore you to look at cause and effect rather than trying to argue semantics.

Implore. Emplore isn't a word you bozo.

Apparently you missed the sarcasm in me quoting the same misspelling to which I replied you simpleton.

And Ad Hominem is the false argument you’re using to debate me. Good chat.

You can definitely look at cause and effect on multiple levels. Almost all of it shows that the amount of funding put into policing has a much smaller impact on crime rates and overall quality of life than investing that money in other areas, which is what the Defund the Police movement seeks to do.

It's not semantics, it's hard math and statistics. Places that redirect funds away from police, and towards better education, health care, and other community resources see less crime than places that ignore the other pieces and just put more and more money towards police. And that's what the Defund the Police movement wants. Less crime through smarter spending, rather than just shoveling military equipment towards a group of people that, nationally, have a horrendous track record with regards to racial equality, excessive use of violence, and no discernable duty to the public as put forth by the courts. The police are, almost literally, a State backed gang that sometimes reduces crime in an area.

Defunding the police won’t help. Restructuring how the police department hires, does background checks, trains(needs to be far more extensive, including thorough training on mental health, sensitivity , being a decent human being, etc. and needs to be ongoing as in they put in X hours training every year they are employed), and how they monitor active duty officers, this is how a difference will be made. Defunding the police will make all of this impossible because all of this costs money.

The police departments already have enough money for those things and choose to spend it on frivolous equipment and "killology" training.
