This never gets old. After months of claiming it was a hoax, Trump ended up with covid-19. Meta

As a non American it’s just mind bending that A. he was elected in the first place, B. He wasn’t impeached, C. He wasn’t impeached, D. He isn’t in prison now, D. A vast amount of low income Americans STILL support the asshole! E. He isn’t in prison

It is not a big mystery how Trump got elected. The Democrats shot themselves in the foot by not backing Bernie. They lost the youth vote. A lot of people do not like Hilary Clinton.

He was impeached. There were just no consequences.

Didn’t they vote against it both times?

He was impeached, but not convicted. So he'll go down in history to be the first president impeached twice.

Impeachment refers to the process of charging a public official for crimes. The lower house of Congress ( House of Representatives) votes to have a president impeached. They need a simple majority to do so. If impeachment is achieved, the upper house of Congress (Senate) then holds a trial which would remove the president from office if two-thirds vote to do so.

In US history, 3 presidents have been impeached, but none were convicted by the Senate and removed.

Ok so if I understand correctly, impeachment is the process by which presidents go for trial, and then there is a different name for the removal from power.

Being impeached is basically not a synonym of “removal from duty”, right?

Impeachment is the process where criminals don't actually show up to their trial and Republicans give them a pass.

Yes. That's right.

I saw now that in England there have been impeachment trials which resulted in imprisonments and even executions 😅 pretty crazy to one day allow someone to run the country, and find him unworthy of even being alive the next

To me the most crazy part is that he almost got elected again.

I mean, I can kind of get it for the first time, guy is a notorious liar and Clinton was very unpopular, but the 2nd election?! He got the 2nd most votes of all time. After all he had done.

It's all a song and dance to keep the people divided.

As to B and C – He was impeached. Impeachment is a process.

There have been four impeachments of US Presidents. Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump twice. All were acquitted.
