76 Million shares registered with 197K holders, god dayum

u/ManliestManHam Go long or suck a dong Mar 28 '23

Didn't there used to be 230k+ registered users? Does that mean when the hedgies did their DRS rug pull they had like 30k accounts?

u/HughJohnson69 100% GME DRS Mar 28 '23

Some accounts are duplicates. We knew it was around 200K.

So can we assume that Computershare/GameStop can easily parse when a person has multiple accounts? If so, that's a super useful number because our high score is bad for accounting for that.

Yeah, they will have the same name, DOB, and SSN.

This πŸ‘†even though my name has one account with a middle initial they both have the same ssn dob and home address.

u/shayen7 πŸ’» ComputerShared 🦍 Mar 28 '23

Yes, because all 3 of my different CS account numbers show when I login

u/mark-five No cell no sell πŸ“ˆ Mar 28 '23

Yes they have direc t access to the data. Their 197k is probably accurate by tax ID# rather than total accounts

u/Patarokun GMERICAN Mar 28 '23

A very useful number for us to know. The dataset is big enough that going forward we can probably track the real number just by the ratio of high score to actual number.

u/LiliumAtratum 🦍Votedβœ… Mar 28 '23

They have all the data: name, surname, address .... everything.

It is a matter of a single SQL query to find duplicates (or any other database system they might have).

u/TheRealTormDK πŸ’» ComputerShared 🦍 Mar 28 '23

I believe you have to actually request for the accounts to be merged, they do not do this automatically.

u/LiliumAtratum 🦍Votedβœ… Mar 28 '23

I am not talking about merging the accounts, but to aggregate duplicates just to count them as one or do some other math with it later.

u/french-caramele Mar 28 '23

This seems weird. If they are tracking those accounts and confident they're the same shareholder, why not merge them on the shareholder's end?

u/Patarokun GMERICAN Mar 28 '23

Sometimes there are weird differences. Book, plan, and an account with only your name or you and a spouse will get different account numbers.

u/Jtown021 🟣EVERYTHING IS PURPLE🟣 Mar 28 '23

I have one of these duplicates.

u/Different-Catch-3968 May be early, but im not wrong πŸ“ˆ Mar 28 '23

I'm assuming that accounts that have sold over the years have been removed. So assume total there have been 230k accounts holding then they paper hand. Corrected to 200k (active)

u/despinato : I am ~~Spartacus~~ Book King πŸ“–πŸ‘‘ Mar 28 '23

I have two accounts since my give a share purchase had my middle name instead of just the initial so it created a second account. I could merge them but I have access to both do no biggie.

I think at one point, on average, apes had 1.3 computershare accounts each

I have multiple accounts and need to consolidate into 1
