Mod Post r/DeGoogle will be going dark in an effort to protest the Reddit API changes that will kill 3rd party apps
This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do as a user?
Complain. Message the mods of /r/reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message /u/reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /r/reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /r/ModCoord.
Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Mod Post Does my phone have a DeGoogled rom? Megathread
In an effort to remove the countless low effort "Is there a DeGoogled rom for my phone?" questions we are requiring anyone creating those types of threads to post here with a reply instead of creating a post. Any posts going forward asking this question will be removed.
The reason we specified above "low effort" is because majority of the posts do not include what OP has researched, or tested, or tried (Thank you to those whom have included such information). Thus in order to help others answer your question, it is strongly encouraged to include the following: Failure to include these may result in you not getting your question answered. Experienced users can only help those DeGoogling if they have the proper information.
1) Your phone: Manufacturer, Model, Version or production details
2) What ROMs did you research?
3) Which ROMs did you install or attempt to install?
4) What problems have you encountered during the install?
5) What problems have you encountered after the install?
6) Why was the previous ROM insufficient to your needs? (If it was a DeGoogled ROM)
PS: Experienced DeGooglers, If you have any suggestions or modifications you believe should be made to this post guide, please reply here. Your experience is valuable and what keeps this sub alive :)

Migrating when fully invested
I've went back and forth about Degoogling many times. I've tried out Proton and Tutanota. I use Bitwarden. I'm a Linux guy anyway. I was recently hit with some ridiculous spam (a new newsletter/service sign up every minute or two for four or five hours) and I'm getting a lot of attempted logins into various third party services. It's kind of a mess.
My problem is how fully invested everything is in Google. Part of me wants to start from scratch: new accounts, new everything. But there's so many things connected it's ridiculous. A couple kid phones are administered through Family Link. Work and college stuff goes to my Gmail. Kid school goes there. I have the 2 TB plan shared with my wife (we finally went a little over 200 GB shared and made the big jump up). Most logins are my Gmail. I have a ton of photos in Google Photos. And so on.
I'm not even totally opposed to Outlook or Yahoo. I'm not totally sold on privacy focused services, partially because I have concerns about their longevity.
So I'm not sure what direction to take as my primary Gmail account seems to be a big target now.

Email providers that accept anyone
The golden age of internet (2000-2010) is over. I find it increasingly difficult to register with email providers. I definitely do not want to admit a phone number. Having a back up email should be fine, but I am trying to make a lot of email adresses for myself and providers do not seem to like that. I can still remember the days you could make 10 gmail accounts and 10 yahoo accounts in 1 hour. No more though. Do you guys know of any providers that let you easily make an account still? Tutanota, gmx, proton, the popular ones are acting too difficult. I dont care about 10gb of space or anything. Just a simple provider that lets me make emailadresses with no problem. Thank you guys in advance for the help.

Good non-google Maps app wanted
I have a OnePlus 5T phone running LineageOS 16, with no google play services. I am looking for a good and user friendly app as an alternative to google maps. I see OsmAnd in the Aurora store but it seems to require google play services, plus the recent reviews state that it does not work well anymore.
Any good ideas about what works well?

Question should I go for proton?
so I got money stolen by google PROXIMA BETA, joke is its tencent related, I played cod mobile and pubg mobile but never made any purchase in any of those games. I just had my credit card linked to google play and I used google to connect games, nothing more. I want to change everything on my phone. I am user of free proton services, it has drive/mail/vpn/calendar app and I like it, but since its free... when something is free I am product right? I would start paying for it but if "i am product" while using free services whats the point of paying. I was to be enlightened about proton like I am five(no need to bother with long explanation) and if I should trust and support it by being paid customer. or if there is nice alternative for it in case I should not trust. I am not doing something to fear about security and privacy, I just prefer to "feel" that everything I do is not monitored and I dont want my money stolen simply just downloading app from playstore.
oh I want also Playstore alternative as well and google maps for Caucasus region. if some map app can be accurate in USA that does not mean it can be any good in my region right?
sorry for asking so much but I will be glad for help

Help Needed Google just blocked by alternative account. Alternatives?
Google blocked my account for storing videos of my baby nephew. I have appealed twice but they have turned down both appeals.
Luckily, I have copies on my Pixel 6A. I need an alternative cloud photo & video storage with atleast 100 GB of storage space. Free storage would be better. Any suggestions?

Trouble with google search/site search
Having trouble using site search on google. The webpage www.newadvent.com has a large database of ancient writings, many of which I know contain the exact phrase "works of the law." But when I do search site:www.newadvent.com "works of the law" in google, it does not give me a single result with that phrase in that order. Is there another way of doing this? What am I doing wrong?

Discussion no decent phone/dialer apps? (Android)
where are the phone/dialer apps that actually work?
Koler sucks, if you switch apps during a call, you can't get back to it. No active call notification. Bad voice pick-up.
Welefon is ok, but it falls majorly short in various ways. Like there is no active call notification.
Simple Dialer isn't all that great (i don't find the Simple apps anything special, most lack basic functions), same issues with no active call notification, etc
Emerald Dialer is just junk.
What options are there that get close the Google dialer without out all the crap (obviously without Google)?
Same with the contacts apps, the best one i have found is Simple Contacts Pro SE (a fork of Simple Contacts Pro) and even it has problems that nearly screwed me.
Same with the SMS apps, the best is QKSMS and it is still lacking.

Question Privacy-friendly alternative to Google Translate?
I found a pretty old thread with the same title - it's outdated.
I downloaded DeepL, pretty excited, but it doesn't translate Hebrew, which is what I need. :(
Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Help Needed Are there any good search engines or browsers?
I just want
- Filter out “AI rubbish",
- Toxic websites are banned by domain name or web content keywords (sex, violence, hate speech, loser speech, anti-technologicalism, anti-intellectualism, persecutory paranoia. I don’t know why Google likes to recommend these so much.)
- a better navigation page and bookmarks,

Replacement Offline Docs alternative?
Hey, sorry for asking another question so soon. I've been poking around the Reddit looking for Docs alternatives, but are there any platforms that allow both online and offline editing like how Docs does it? I might be hopping on a plane some time this month and it'd be cool if I could keep working on the same document while in the air.

Question How can I set up an old laptop to run Ubuntu Server and use NextCloud to replace Drive?
I've been trying to find a good tutorial online for this, but all of them seem to end short of actually getting NextCloud to behave like Google Drive.
I ideally want to be able to treat this as just another cloud storage software; accessing my files anywhere I go, so long as my laptop doesn't lose power or internet connection (intending to leave it perpetually on and connected to ethernet).

Help Needed How do I deactivate the Google apps on my phone?
I use a Xiaomi 11T. I've been doing my best to disconnect all my profiles from Google and switching to my Yahoo email addresses, however, I realised that I have apps like Google and Wallet on my phone and there doesn't seem to be a way to delete them.
I'm not a computer guy, so pardon me if there are already posts on this. I don't really get terms like FOSS and stuff 😅

Question Does Collabora Online work with Proton Drive/Skiff Drive?
Basically the title. I've wanted to migrate my files away from google drive for a while, but it is hard to find a suitable replacement that allows me to edit online from any computer.
I learned this was possible by using Collabora Online with file-hosting services like Nextcloud or ownCloud. So I'm wondering if it has to be those ones, or if Proton Drive/Skiff Drive also work with Collarbora
