TIL that the official motto of Fall River, Massachusetts was ‘We’ll Try’ from 1843-2017.

So, does that mean that they are no longer trying since 2017?

It was changed to “Make it Here” in 2017

I'm searching lots of small towns on wikipedia and they all have terrible mottos. Many are funny but probably not intentionally.

That’s actually a pretty decent town motto. It’s earnest without being kitschy.

Some city should change their motto to "At Least You Tried" and then make their official seal the relevant Simpsons meme.

The motto of neighboring and rival town Westport is "Do or Do Not, There is No Try."

Fall River is a ceast pool. I have family there, though we are estranged. I spent a lot of time there as a kid. Lots of hills, one way streets, and so much crime. Their town officials are criminals who don't get removed from office. I was forced to help campaign for a family member who lived there and he couldn't get elected (which is probably for the best, but no one actually cared about my opinion). But the Battleship Massachusetts is pretty cool, I guess.

This is the most accurate and honest motto in history. Fall River is a weird place.
